May 23, 2019, W. Yorkshire Telegraph and Argus: Details of where new special educational needs places will be created in Bradford this September https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/17660945.details-of-where-new-special-educational-needs-places-will-be-created-in-bradford-this-september/ PLANS to create over 130 special needs places in schools throughout the district have gone out to public consultation - but hundreds more still need to be identified. Earlier this year the Bradford Schools Forum decided that 354 extra special educational needs places were urgently required to meet rising demands in the district. … The 134 spaces will be created by September…. Number of children with special education needs rises by more than half since 2010… Government legislation means Councils are unable to open new schools, and a bid for a new special free school in the district was recently passed over by the Department for Education. It means places are having to be created at existing schools and facilities. The committee has also bemoaned what they describe as inadequate funding for specialist places coming into Bradford from the government. Marium Haque, Bradford Council's Deputy Director for Education and Learning tsaid there had been a "significant gap" between the places available and what was needed. She said more places would be needed in the coming years, adding: "354 places is not the endgame - there is an increasing need in the district. These extra places basically bring us to the place we needed to be at last year. There is a lot of work to do."…

Childhood Lost
Children today are noticeably different from previous generations, and the proof is in the news coverage we see every day. This site shows you what’s happening in schools around the world. Children are increasingly disabled and chronically ill, and the education system has to accommodate them. Things we've long associated with autism, like sensory issues, repetitive behaviors, anxiety and lack of social skills, are now problems affecting mainstream students. Blame is predictably placed on bad parenting (otherwise known as trauma from home).
Addressing mental health needs is as important as academics for modern educators. This is an unrecognized disaster. The stories here are about children who can’t learn or behave like children have always been expected to. What childhood has become is a chilling portent for the future of mankind.
