Stamford, CT: Board of Ed budget includes "money for growing SPED pop."

The suggested $286 million spending plan represents a 5-percent increase, and includes money for a growing special education population and new school initiatives. But despite questioning from board members and speculation from the public, it won’t include a significantly increased budget for facilities and maintenance following this year’s mold crisis which closed Westover Magnet Elementary School and cost the district hundreds of thousands in remediation before the city stepped in.
