(Spain) Madrid: $27M ok'd for two new special schools
The Community of Madrid has greenlit the construction of two new public Special Education Schools (CPEE) in Móstoles and the Villaverde district of the capital, which will offer 400 places and require an investment of 23.4 million euros [$27M].
Both projects, with a 15-month execution timeframe, will significantly expand the region's specialized educational offerings. The regional government also announced the upcoming tender for a third center of this nature in El Escorial, as reported by the regional government spokesperson, Miguel Ángel García Martín. . . .
With these new additions, the Community of Madrid now has 27 Special Education centers, in addition to 206 specific classrooms in 74 ordinary public schools, with 50 new ones incorporated this 2026/27 academic year. The expansion of resources also includes the enhancement of the CPEE Peñalara in Collado Villalba and ongoing work on the Vicente Ferrer center in San Sebastián de los Reyes and the María Montessori center in Parla.
