SD legislature's 'Extraordinary Cost Fund for SPED' committee looking into increases

The committee is looking at the numbers of students, and the costs involved in local districts providing those extra educational programs…. Jamie Herman, superintendent in the Kadoka District, says they are having to place more students out of their district. Rhonda Frederick, the special education director at the McLaughlin School district says they have a hard time finding any staff. The committee directed staff to come up with some possible legislation dealing with special education funding for their next meeting later this fall.
