“It's great to see the San Antonio support us in leveling the playing field for kids with disabilities,” Brighton Center CEO Kim Jefferies said. It’s called Harvey Najim Early Childhood Learning Center, it's the latest expansion to the Brighton Center's program and facilities for children with disabilities and delays. The Najim campus at Higgins Rd. features a pediatric therapy clinic and space for after-school specialized skills camps. Najim donated $1.5 million to the project. Other donors include H-E-B, Whataburger and Valero. "I’m truly honored and humbled to have my name on it,” Harvey Najim himself said. “They serve over 3,500 kids each year. I don’t know what we would do if we didn't have this place."… This allows for 500 more kids to be served through their programming. Statistics show 4,630 children are born in Bexar County every year with a disability or developmental delay. 34,000 kids are in special education and the county's autism population is expected to grow 17 percent over the next five years.
