The budget plan, which is expected to pass, is viewed by Salem-Keizer Public Schools officials as a "status quo" budget, meaning most items adjust year-over-year changes in the middle of the current state biennium…. The original budget proposed in April by Superintendent Christy Perry — which totaled $691.5 million — set aside funding for behavioral learning, new elementary math curriculum, staffing and resources to grow the district's graduation rate and aide for student health and special education caseloads…. The revised budget still includes these additions, as well as two new full-time nurses, four full-time counselors, more than three full-time behavior learning staff, $1 million in additional funding for new elementary math curriculum — which already cost $3.55 million — and $424 million in the 2018 Bond Capital Fund. …
