Richland Co, OH: 750 kids with ASD in county; 'not enough services'

New autism services in Richland County

A new provider of autism services has opened in Richland County. Robert E. Neumann Consulting LLC has opened the The Autism Center, located at 68 Briggs Drive, Mansfield.

The Ohio Department of Education approved the center as a provider for Ohio's Autism Scholarship in mid-June of 2023 and is enrolling now.

Founder Robert Neumann served the children in his community as an intervention specialist for the Mansfield City Schools, Mid-Ohio Educational Services and St. Peter’s Catholic Schools for the past 40-plus years and has worked with families and children with autism for the past 10 years.

“There are approximately 750 children with autism in Richland County, Ohio," noted Neumann. "Simply put, there are not enough services within our community to fulfill the need."

The Autism Center will utilize a family-first approach that creates a personalized support structure for children and parents. The services include environmental enrichment, floor time, indoor and outdoor playground, physical therapy, pre-academic and instruction, occupational therapy, speech and language, structured play, social work services, The Miller Square, TAAP treadmill, and yoga.

An open house is being planned for 3 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 1.
