The Putnam City Schools Board just approved allowing teachers and staff to bring in therapy dogs to help their students.
School officials said the teacher or staff member must register the dog with the American Kennel Club and have the dog go through extensive training for what they will be doing to help the students.
"They just have to be clean well trained great with people and students, especially young kids," said AJ Graffeo, communications specialist at Putnam City Schools.
Having therapy dogs in the classroom may just be the thing the students need to help them feel more comfortable and motivated to learn in the classroom. The therapy dogs will help the students with daily lessons or give them a friend in a time of need….
