Norwich, CT: District overspend $1.1M due to SPED tuition and transportation costs

Aug 6, 2018, Norwich (CT) Bulletin: Norwich City Council approves transfer of funds to help cover $1.121 million in budget shortfalls City Council voted 6-1 on Monday night to pass a resolution that will allow the transfer of funds to cover budget deficits of four city departments totaling $1.121 million. Norwich Public Schools experienced the greatest overspend, exceeding their budget by $1.1 million claiming higher-than-anticipated special education tuition and transportation costs. Other departments included Norwich police exceeding their budget by $15,000 and Laurel Hill and Taftville volunteer fire departments exceeding their budget by $3,000 each. …
