New Jersey: Expanded preschool autism programs

July 28, 2017, Midland School expands offerings with preschool and autism programs In September, The Midland School in the North Branch section will launch a preschool program for children ages 3 and 4 with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) classroom for students with autism. These two new programs are in addition to the array of other services that Midland School has offered students with special needs for many years New preschool offers many services The one to two-year individualized program for preschool-aged students will focus on early intervention and specialized instruction. … “In response to the needs of students, their families, and school districts, Midland decided to add ABA instruction to broaden and strengthen our array of programs and services for children and young adults with autism,” said Zizelmann. “Our goal is to improve all aspects of a student’s life — communication, social relationships, self-care, academics and employment — through the use of select ABA techniques.”
