Naperville, IL: 70-80% of students have moderate to high levels of stress; plans made for workshops

The cause of youth stress in Naperville was the focus of a 2018 State of the Kids report released in January and based on the results of an October 2017 survey done with seventh-graders and 10th-graders in Naperville School District 203 and Indian Prairie School District 204…. Seven of 10 seventh-graders and nearly eight in 10 sophomores say they experience moderate or high levels of daily stress. About half of both groups say the stress makes it difficult to perform daily tasks because they feel overwhelmed by anxiety, lack focus and struggle to concentrate. In response, KidsMatter, which took a lead role in the survey, has been developing parent workshops over the last six month to share the survey results and ultimately offer ways to help kids cope and learn when to seek help….
