May 28, 2025, Gulf Coast News: North Port Fire Rescue receives donation of sensory kits to assist children with autism
NORTH PORT, Fla. —
As of Wednesday, North Port Fire Rescue was gifted new sensory kits to be placed on its rescue units.
The kits were donated by the Southwest Florida Healthcare Coalition.
These kits are designed to help children with sensory sensitivities, especially those with autism spectrum disorder.
Because the back of a rescue unit can be overwhelming during a medical emergency, the tools can help provide comfort and reduce anxiety when one is being treated and transported.
