CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach Bowl has partnered with the Champion Autism Network to create a sensory-friendly environment for the game.
CAN provides traditional family experiences modified for people with autism who are sometimes overwhelmed by lights, crowds, and smells
The company says there will be an area at Brooks Stadium that is more sensory-friendly.
“We have got the people in place we have got the team in place. The more people that join us the better it is for so many more people. We are going to make a bunch of people really happy and that is the goal,” said creator and executive director of CAN, Becky Large.
Volunteers and staff will be trained by CAN prior to the game and the program provides an opportunity to spread awareness by educating the public about the needs and accommodations of the autism community. . . .
The overall goal is to create a friendly environment for those with autism while also allowing their families to enjoy the game.
