Jan 28, 2020, PsychCongress.com: Caravel Autism Health Announces Four Minnesota Facilities https://www.psychcongress.com/article/caravel-autism-health-announces-four-minnesota-facilities Caravel Autism Health on Tuesday announced it is opening four autism treatment centers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul/southern Minnesota region. Locations in White Bear Lake, Woodbury and Plymouth will open over the next three months. A location in Mankato opened this week, becoming the company’s fifth facility. In a news release announcing the openings, Caravel noted the higher prevalence of autism diagnoses in Minnesota—1 in 42 children in the state are diagnosed with autism, outpacing the national rate of 1 in 59—which has increased the area’s need for treatment services. Caravel offers diagnosis and individualized treatment, with clinical psychologists evaluating children for autism and other conditions, and specialists creating and leading individualized applied behavior analysis treatment plans.
Childhood Lost
Children today are noticeably different from previous generations, and the proof is in the news coverage we see every day. This site shows you what’s happening in schools around the world. Children are increasingly disabled and chronically ill, and the education system has to accommodate them. Things we've long associated with autism, like sensory issues, repetitive behaviors, anxiety and lack of social skills, are now problems affecting mainstream students. Blame is predictably placed on bad parenting (otherwise known as trauma from home).
Addressing mental health needs is as important as academics for modern educators. This is an unrecognized disaster. The stories here are about children who can’t learn or behave like children have always been expected to. What childhood has become is a chilling portent for the future of mankind.
