A new autism center opened in Millersville. The facility will help children develop social skills and prepare for school.
Verbal Beginnings announced Friday that it opened a new autism facility in Millersville. Therapists will help clients develop their social skills and prepare them for school.
"In the last ten years[,] we have learned so much about the impact that our Centers can have with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder," said Diana Wolf, founder and co-CEO of Verbal Beginnings. "We are so excited to be helping even more kids in the Anne Arundel County region."
The behavioral health facility will serve 36 families with children aged 18 months to 6 years old. The clients will participate in one of the center's two tracks.
The Early Beginnings pathway builds school readiness through full- and half-day programs. These solo sessions use a technique called Applied Behavior Analysis. This reinforces behaviors that help students and discourages actions that hurt their development.
The other curriculum, Social Beginnings, is a year-round group class to improve interpersonal skills….
This is the third Verbal Beginnings location. The other two sites are in Columbia.
