MILFORD, MA - August 4, 2026 - BrightStar Care Milford/Framingham announced the expansion of its school-based medical staffing services throughout Central Massachusetts, increasing support for school districts responding to ongoing healthcare staffing challenges and the growing school nurse shortage.

The expansion broadens the availability of clinical staffing services for students who require medical support during the school day, transportation, school-sponsored activities, and extended academic programs. The initiative is intended to assist schools in meeting healthcare coverage needs while supporting students with complex medical conditions in educational settings.

According to the company, the expanded services will be available to school districts, special education departments, families, and healthcare providers across Central Massachusetts. The program includes one-to-one student nursing, school nurse coverage, transportation nursing, field trip coverage, extended school year staffing, summer school support, district-wide substitute nurse coverage, and rapid placement for urgent staffing requirements.

Schools throughout the region continue to face challenges in securing qualified nursing professionals to support students with specialized healthcare needs. BrightStar Care Milford/Framingham stated that the expansion is a response to increasing demand for school nursing staffing and medical staffing that Massachusetts school systems can access when vacancies or coverage gaps arise.

The agency's clinical teams provide support for students with a range of healthcare requirements, including seizure disorders, diabetes management, feeding tube care, mobility assistance, and medication administration. Care plans are coordinated in collaboration with school administrators, special education personnel, families, and healthcare providers to address each student's individual needs. . . .

BrightStar Care Milford/Framingham noted that all school-based cases receive RN oversight as part of its clinical management process. The organization also operates as a Joint Commission-accredited home care provider, a distinction that applies to its healthcare staffing and care services.

The expansion reflects a growing need for school district medical staffing resources as educational institutions continue to manage healthcare requirements for students who depend on ongoing nursing support. Areas of service include one-to-one student nursing, special education nursing, pediatric nursing support, transportation nursing, and extended school year staffing.

In conjunction with the expansion, the agency is recruiting nurses interested in school-based care opportunities and is establishing additional partnerships with school districts throughout Central Massachusetts. . . .
