Medford, OR: U.S. Senator wants more mental health support in schools

And they were also in the Medford School District Tuesday gathering suggestions on how to better our education system. Some students suggested more counseling needs to be available. And Senator Jeff Merkley couldn't agree more. "I'm arguing that we should have federal support to help communities have a mental health counselor in these schools to help engage children who are under significant duress or are suffering from mental illness," said Senator Jeff Merkley. Senator Merkley says parents, teachers and administrators he's spoke to are in support of this initiative as a means to make schools more safe.
