Sept 6, 2025, WDIO, Duluth, MN: Little River Autism Services now open, offering ABA therapy and diagnostic testing

A new clinic is offering services to families who have children with autism. Little River Autism Services offers one-on-one services to kids ages 2-8.

Families can enroll directly, or may be referred by their pediatrician. At the clinic, they can provide eligibility and diagnostic testing.

Co-founder Sarah Ward said, “Our goal with establishing this new clinic is to ease the often years-long regional wait list for children who are not meeting developmental milestones, providing opportunities for up to 16 children to receive intensive ABA therapy.”

ABA therapy is Applied Behavioral Analysis. It’s a scientific approach to understanding and changing behavior. And breaks developmental milestones into small, manageable steps.

“Our team is passionate about early intervention and creating positive outcomes through play-based and structured learning in a supportive setting,” added co-founder Megan Wasland. “Every child has their strengths, and we build on those.

They like to see their clients more prepared for a school setting. “To see them participate in things that their parents or guardians never thought they could, it’s pretty rewarding,” Wasland shared.

Both women are experienced, board certified Behavioral Analysts.

“At the end of the day, kids are kids, and they’re all a little bit different and wonderful in their own way,” Ward said.

Little River is on Hermantown Road, near the Solway Township building. They sit on four acres, and plan on making nature play a part of the services.
