Oct 7, 2025, Levittown, PA, Bucks County Courier Times: What's happening at the former Pearl S. Buck Elementary in Levittown
The classrooms inside the former Pearl S. Buck Elementary School building are once again filled with children thanks to a lease agreement with the Bucks County Intermediate Unit.
This aging Neshaminy School District building along Top Road in Levittown had closed last winter when its entire student body transferred to the new Core Creek Elementary School. This new building opened in January on the Maple Point Middle School campus in Middletown Township.
In September, Bucks IU at Pearl S. Buck staff began offering new programs hosted across 18 special education classrooms throughout the building designed to accommodate K through 8th-grade students in need of autistic and emotional support, while providing curriculum aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program requirements.
“The opening of the Bucks IU at Pearl S. Buck provides a meaningful opportunity to meet the requests of our member districts," Lenny Greaney, Bucks IU assistant to the executive director, said in a press release. "An educational environment such as this allows our highly skilled and trained staff to meet the complex and individualized needs of students enrolled at the school.” . . .
The Bucks IU at Pearl S. Buck staff serve students in kindergarten through 8th grade, leaving the staff at Bucks IU at Samuel Everitt, also located in Levittown, to focus their programming on older students in 9th grade through age 22.
“Expanding our programming in Bucks County aligns with the mission of the Bucks IU to support the needs of all learners, their families, school districts, and our community,” Bucks IU Executive Director Mark Hoffman said.
“As the needs of our stakeholders change, the Bucks IU will continue to evolve and grow.”
