Good Shepherd Rehabilitation plans to open a new neurodevelopmental wellness center in the Lehigh Valley; this one is near Allentown.

The Autism and Neurodevelopmental Wellness Center Good Shepherd Rehabilitation expects to open to clients at 501 Cetronia Road in Upper Macungie Township in fall 2026.

The new center will offer an additional option to children, teens, and adults in the region seeking a personalized and expanded model of care facilitated by licensed, trained counselors and care navigators, according to a news release announcing the project.

The center was supported by an anonymous donor family.

Karen Long, vice president of outpatient operations, PTA, MBA, said, “The Good Shepherd community shaped this center with honesty, creativity and heart. They made the project possible, and their fingerprints are on every part of it.”

The site is owned and operated by Hammes Realty Services.

Good Shepherd’s 2025 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) included a five-month process and facilitated steering groups to design the facility. The CHNA focused on the needs of people who identify as neurodivergent, including those with autism, ADHD, traumatic brain injury, sensory processing differences, learning disorders, and tic disorders, according to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation.

Programming will seek to build upon the program’s partnerships and expand speech, physical and occupational therapy, and group therapy to six days a week, including evenings, according to the release.

The program will offer members a place to learn and grow through music, art and movement therapies, social and communication groups, yoga, karate, daily living skills classes, gaming and programming, crafting, and learning to use assistive and adaptive technology, the company said.

“For decades, Good Shepherd has supported children and adults with autism and other neurodivergent identities. Our staff, with their expertise, compassion, and deep understanding of sensory needs, communication differences and family dynamics, laid the foundation for everything we are announcing today,” said Vice President of Advancement and Marketing Carry Gerber.
