In order to balance the budget , school board trustees are dipping into the ending fund balance -- a reserve. Normally, it is 1.75 percent of the general fund revenue but will be taken down to 0.78 percent to balance the budget. The proposed cuts had included cutting 120 bus driver positions and special education staff. Parents and staff came out in numbers to make sure that didn't happen. "I think special education should not be cut anywhere in schools," said Amy Miller-James, parent. "We're coming into this generation with more and more children, who are either have autism or special needs. I believe that's one area we can not cut at all and should not cut."
