May 15, 2025, KGNS News : $18K donation brings sensory room closer to United High School students in Laredo
Students at United High School are closer to getting a sensory room thanks to an $18,000 donation.
Casa Karinyo gave the money to United ISD’s Special Education Department. They raised the money at a concert in April called “Rockin’ the Spectrum.”
The event had music, food, family fun, and focused on autism awareness.
Joe Barron with Casa Karinyo said the sensory room will help students who are having a rough day. “They can go in there and wind down. They teach them textures, they teach them sounds. It’s just a benefit all the way around,” Barron said.
United High was picked because it has the most students with special needs in the district.
