July 10, 2018, Lake Mills (WI) Leader: Lake Mills earns school safety grant …A press release provided by Jamie Syvrud, the district Learning and Student Services Director, Attorney General Brad Schimel announced July 9 that Lake Mills was one of 52 districts statewide to receive part of $3,501,346 to be spent on safety improvements and training for faculty and staff. … Of the money allotted, Lake Mills received $56,544…. She also explained at the school board meeting later in the evening that part of the money would also be used train any staff who have not yet received Saint Aemilian’s training in trauma-informed care and schools…. “The public safety professionals at DOJ, in conjunction with dozens of educational and mental health response professionals, established a meaningful way to improve school safety by strengthening response to mental health crises, and improving the physical safety of school buildings,” Schimel stated in the release….
