East Tennessee Children's Hospital held a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning to celebrate the opening of its new neurosciences center.
The project, which started 18 months ago, puts physiatry, neurology and neurodiagnostics in one location. By putting them all in one location, the hospital hopes to make healthcare more convenient patients and families in the region.
"Two big things associated with this, number one, we have more of a foot print to serve greater needs, and there are greater needs today than their ever has been in all of these specialties," said East Tennessee Children's Hospital President and CEO Matt Schaefer.
"Number two, it brings both of these services under one physical location which allows families to hopefully have more continuity in their care and less disruption than they might ordinarily have."
The center treats children with brain injuries, seizures and provides testing such as EEGs.
The East Tennessee Children's Hospital Neurosciences Center is located at 2100 Clinch Avenue, Suite 210.
