Mar 6, 2025, MLive: Abandoned Jackson hospital building to become autism treatment center
JACKSON, MI — A former hospital building near downtown Jackson is being redeveloped as a center serving children on the autism spectrum.
Michigan Psychological Care acquired the former site of Henry Ford Allegiance Specialty Hospital at 110 N. Elm Avenue in November. The 23,242-square-foot facility was sold to the Clinton County Medical Center for $250,000, according to Jackson property records.
Brad Messenger - owner of Michigan Psychological Care and Clinton County Medical Center - said his company has outgrown its current office space in Jackson and is looking to expand.
“Our team is extremely excited to keep serving the Jackson community, and we’ve appreciated the support so far that we’ve gotten,” Messenger said. “It’s really the mission of Michigan Psychological Care to provide the highest level of quality care and services.” . . .
With the Summit Township facility offering standard counseling services, the Elm Avenue site is planned to house Michigan Psychological Care’s applied behavior analysis center. The therapy is designed to help children on the autism spectrum develop social and emotional skills, Messenger said. . . .
A similar Michigan Psychological Care facility in Alma employs four board-certified behavior analysts and about 80 support staff members, Messenger said. . . .
