June 20, 2025, Independent: Primary school in Meath receives approval for expansion and special education facilities
Approved planning permission for Kilbride National School in Trim is set to see the school undergo an upgrade aimed at enhancing educational facilities — particularly for children with special educational needs.
The proposed development will begin with the demolition of an existing play shelter, making way for a new single-storey extension. This modern addition will include dedicated teaching spaces specifically designed for special educational needs. . . .
Kilbride National School has been at the heart of the local community since the 1940s. Over the years, the primary school has evolved and expanded to meet the needs of a growing population.
Currently, the school comprises five classrooms, two Learning Support rooms, a staff room, and an office — serving students in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Beyond the classroom, the project includes several important external upgrades. These feature modifications to the existing car park to accommodate additional parking spaces, the creation of new outdoor play areas, and the installation of a sensory garden.
As part of the development, a new boundary treatment will replace the existing low wall and gate in the southeast corner of the site, and a new waste-water treatment system will be installed to support the expanded facilities.
