BECOMING an accredited Autism friendly facility is what one famous Limerick attraction is aiming for this week.
The Hunt Museum has been working with AsIAm charity toward becoming a recognised Autism friendly museum.
As well as becoming an Autism friendly museum, the Hunt Museum is launching a multi-sensory exhibition entitled Seeing Without Sight, from August 12 to October 1.
This unique exhibition will enable visitors with visual impairments to be able to experience a historic journey via ‘tactile objects’ and ‘audio descriptions’.
Previously, the museum hosted a range of autism-friendly games and a sensory area in their garden for people to visit and avail of during Riverfest, which took place during the May bank holiday weekend.
Dr Simon Thompson, Communities of Culture and EU Horizon 'RECHARGE' project coordinator at the Hunt Museum, says this new project with Ireland's national Autism charity AsIAm is one that is "very close to [my] heart".
