(Ireland) Limerick: 20 classroom autism school planned; 'wonderful news'

The 20-classroom building will accommodate the students of Red Hill Special School, Patrickswell.

It will cater for students on the autism spectrum and with complex needs.

Red Hill first opened in Limerick in 2008 as a co-educational special school for pupils with autistic spectrum disorder & complex needs.

The special school is currently operating out of sub-optimal accommodation within the Rehab Care Campus, Patrickswell, Limerick.

Willie O'Dea TD said, "The proposed new development will consist of a new state-of-the-art 20-classroom special school within the grounds of Crescent College in Dooradoyle, Limerick.


Capital works will be informed by a campus master plan and will include the provision of a Special Education Needs facility and enhanced accommodation to facilitate increased enrolments at Crescent College.
