Two more special educational needs classes have been announced for Laois.

St Colman’s National School in Stradbally has been approved for two new special needs classes and one mainstream classroom.

Welcoming the announcement Sean Fleming TD said: “This is good news for children who need these additional resources in Stradbally and the surrounding areas.”

 “This announcement will also involve the employment of additional Special Education Needs Teachers and Special Needs Assistants,” said Deputy Fleming.

“This initial approval by the Minister has transferred the responsibility for proceeding with the management of this project directly to the school authorities.

“I look forward to this new school extension proceeding as soon as possible which will be of benefit to children from September 2027.”
