(Ireland) Kinnitty: School to add SPED classroom; "much-needed additional capacity"

Kinnitty National School has been approved for a new Special Education Needs (SEN) modular classroom.


The decision, which has received initial approval under the Department of Education’s Modular Framework Programme, will provide an additional SEN classroom at the school.

Fine Gael TD for Offaly, John Clendennen, said the news will help to meet the growing educational needs of pupils in the Kinnitty area. . . .


"This is very positive news for the school, its pupils, staff and the wider school community. The provision of an additional SEN classroom will ensure that children who require additional supports can continue to access those supports in a modern and appropriate learning environment.”


Independent TD for Offaly Carol Nolan also welcomed confirmation of the news, saying it will provide much-needed additional capacity and specialist accommodation to support pupils with additional needs, and represents a significant step forward for inclusive education in rural Offaly: . . .
