Feb 11, 2026, Kildare Now: Planning permission for Special Educational Needs Unit granted to Kildare school 

Kildare County Council has granted planning permission to Scoil Uí Riada, Brayton Park Road, Kilcock, for construction of a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Unit at the premises.


According to Construction Information Services, application number 2561384 was approved on February 3 2026.


The Board of Management of Scoil Uí Riada sought planning permission within the site of Scoil Uí Riada, Brayton Park, Kilcock, Co. Kildare.


The development will include the removal of three temporary single storey units:

 (4) and the construction of a single storey 489m² building to the east of the existing school building.


The new accommodation will house a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Unit with two classrooms, together with a central activity space, daily living skills, an office, two Quiet areas, toilets and other associated spaces.


The proposed extension will be connected to the eastern wing of the existing school.

External works will include the relocation of one disabled parking space, the conversion of three existing standard parking spaces to dedicated Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging spaces, and the conversion of one disabled accessible parking space to an accessible EV space.


The project – estimated to cost approximately €627k – also includes associated landscaping, heat pump condensate, drainage, rain garden, and all associated site works.
