(Ireland) Kerry: 4 schools to add SPED rooms

The Department of Education has granted funding to four schools in Kerry to build additional capacity for pupils with special educational needs (SEN).

Meentogues National School in Headford, Filemore National School in Caherciveen, and Caherdaniel National School now have permission to tender for extensions, which will each accommodate one special education teaching (SET) room.

The money was granted under the National Development Plan (NDP) Sectoral Investment Plan.

Meanwhile, Holy Family National School in Rathmore has been granted initial project approval for an extension made up of two SEN classrooms under the Modular Framework Programme.

Minister and Kerry TD Norma Foley, Deputy Michael Cahill, Senator Mike Kennelly and Deputy Danny Healy-Rae have welcomed the update.
