On Thursday, the U.S. Department of Education approved Iowa’s remaining American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) funding. Iowa is receiving $775 million total in ARP ESSER funds, and Thursday's approval of its plan resulted in the release of the final $258 million. The state received $516 million in March….

The Iowa Department of Education plans on making sure schools are equipped with resources to deal with COVID this fall. Investing in summer school, after school programs and wraparound care. The state also plans on providing social, emotional and mental health needs. All of these plans are directed by the federal government….
