Greenwich, CT: Teenage girls and self-harm

Aug 19, 2017, Greenwich (CT) Time: Troubling trend in teen self-harm Mental health providers in lower Fairfield County have reported several instances in the past 18 months of adolescent girls engaging in self-harm in groups. The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut has received calls on the state’s 211 emergency childcare hotline on two occasions in the past six months asking for intervention for small groups of middle- or high school girls who were cutting together. Child Guidance Center’s mobile crisis team provided aid and counseling to the individuals on both occasions.
