Sept 3, 2025, WSAZ, Huntington, WV: New autism center on the way
CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - An empty field next to Pathways in the city of Grayson will soon be a new autism center.
Brian Bayes is on the Pathways Board of Directors. His son received autism services at Pathways when he was younger.
“This is not a Carter County project, it’s not an Eastern Kentucky. I want this center to be open to anyone who needs services that we can help. It’s not just the children that are affected, it’s the families, it gives the families the tools they need to help guide their child. My goal as a father is to do everything I can to help my children. And if I can help other children along the way, that’s what we want to do,” Bayes said.
The Pathways CEO said the new center will have two new gyms, a sensory room, and different services for kids and adults in an area where autism services are hard to come by.
Pathways said they hope construction will be complete in the next two years.
They are also looking for additional funding to help complete the project.
