Childhood Lost

Children today are noticeably different from previous generations, and the proof is in the news coverage we see every day. This site shows you what’s happening in schools around the world. Children are increasingly disabled and chronically ill, and the education system has to accommodate them. Things we've long associated with autism, like sensory issues, repetitive behaviors, anxiety and lack of social skills, are now problems affecting mainstream students. Blame is predictably placed on bad parenting (otherwise known as trauma from home).

Addressing mental health needs is as important as academics for modern educators. This is an unrecognized disaster. The stories here are about children who can’t learn or behave like children have always been expected to. What childhood has become is a chilling portent for the future of mankind.

What will happen in another 4 years? How can we go on like this? This is a national (and international) problem of monumental proportions. Ft. Myers, FL: Children's hosp offers free monthly autism screening

The Golisano Children’s Hospital is offering a free monthly autism spectrum disorder screening for children 18 months to 5 years old.

According to Lee Health, one in 44 children is diagnosed with some form of autism spectrum disorder.

The Golisano Children’s Hospital partnered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwest Florida offers free autism screenings monthly.

On August 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pediatric Specialist Office 15901 Bass Road, Suite 102, Fort Myers.

Lee Health states this makes autism more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined.

Early intensive behavioral intervention can make an immense difference in the development of the child and their families as well
