Collier Co, FL: Autism school opens; 3 to 1 student/teacher ratio

Aug 8, 2025, WINK TV, Fort Myers, FL: Collier County's new autism school opening with unique resources

A new educational opportunity for students with autism is emerging in Collier County. Autism Collier Charter School is set to open its doors, providing a specialized environment tailored to meet the needs of these students.

WINK News reporter Maddie Herron had an exclusive look inside the school as students and their parents explored the classrooms and met the staff in preparation for the upcoming school year.

"In just a few days, the Autism Collier Charter School will open its doors for the very first time," said Herron.

The school's mission is to empower autistic students by offering a tuition-free special education option for families in Southwest Florida. The school serves kindergarten through 12th grade students and boasts unique resources such as a three-to-one student/teacher ratio, sensory spaces, and swimming lessons.

A highlight for many is Miss Honey, the school's facility dog, who adds a furry, friendly touch to the learning environment.

Principal Emily Kafle is among the many smiling faces ready to welcome students.

The Autism Collier Charter School will officially open on Monday, August 11.
