Planning a vacation is often a stressful situation as a parent and you can run into all kinds of issues and those concerns and issues only increase if you have a child with autism.
A Sherwood Park woman who has worked with children with autism for years has decided to bring her expertise into the travel industry and help families get a proper vacation.
“I have been a travel agent for a year. I am also a substitute teacher with Elk Island Public Schools and used to teach full time with Edmonton Public Schools,” explained Jennifer Mills, a certified autism travel professional and Hawaii Destination specialist with Magic Dream Journeys. “Since starting with Magical Dream Journeys, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how busy I have become booking trips and how many families have reached out needing help planning their vacations to Disney.”
Mills said her travel agent booking services are complimentary, with no added fee except for flights….
The travel agent said she specialized in autistic family travel because there is a need for it so parents of children with autism can feel better about planning trips.
“Over the years, I have taught many students who have had autism or cognitive disabilities of some kind,” Mills said. “I feel there is a great area of need to help families find resources and accommodations that will make travel easier for families with loved ones on the spectrum.”… Mills said since becoming certified, she has had a few clients….
