Nov 14, 2017, (Canada) Narcity: Half Of Ontario Post-Secondary Students Are Missing School Due To Anxiety https://www.narcity.com/ca/on/toronto/news/half-of-ontario-post-secondary-students-are-missing-school-due-to-anxiety Anxiety, depression and anxiety-related disorders have been on the rise for years in North America, and most alarmingly is the increased percentage of youth and children affected by mental illness and disorders in recent years. A new survey commission by Children's Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) has helped quantify just how many young people are affected by anxiety in the province. And the findings are alarming and worrisome. According to the CMHO report released today, nearly half of Ontario's youth aged 18 to 34 have been so deeply affected by anxiety that they have missed school because of it. … Based on the alarming numbers found through this study, CMHO is asking the Ontario government to invest $125 million in community-based mental health centres, staffing and services to address anxiety and mental health issues in children and youth.

Childhood Lost
Children today are noticeably different from previous generations, and the proof is in the news coverage we see every day. This site shows you what’s happening in schools around the world. Children are increasingly disabled and chronically ill, and the education system has to accommodate them. Things we've long associated with autism, like sensory issues, repetitive behaviors, anxiety and lack of social skills, are now problems affecting mainstream students. Blame is predictably placed on bad parenting (otherwise known as trauma from home).
Addressing mental health needs is as important as academics for modern educators. This is an unrecognized disaster. The stories here are about children who can’t learn or behave like children have always been expected to. What childhood has become is a chilling portent for the future of mankind.
