Boardman, OH: Home for autistic adults being built

Oct 23, 2025, WKBN, Youngstown, OH: New home for adults with autism being built in Boardman

A new home for adults with autism is being built in Boardman.

With shovels in hand, the start of construction was celebrated Wednesday morning on Woodfield Court.

A four-bedroom duplex is being constructed on the lot by a nonprofit group, Dylan’s House. It’s the first home the organization has been able to build since it was founded.

“It is one of those pinch-me moments when we think of the community, the donors,

especially Sam and Donna Boak, who donated this lot to us. As parents of an adult with autism who transitioned out of our home, we are going to help so many families, and that is a feeling you can’t even explain,” said Amy and Kevin Shope, of Dylan’s House.

Construction is expected to take six to eight months to complete.
