Aug 24, 2017, Washington Times: Bismarck Public Schools advised to create safety committee http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/aug/24/bismarck-public-schools-advised-to-create-safety-c/ The North Dakota Education Fact-Finding Commission is recommending that Bismarck Public Schools create a new committee to discuss teacher safety concerns. The commission issued their recommendation Wednesday following a public impasse hearing last week, The Bismarck Tribune reported. During the impasse several teachers spoke of violence they’ve encountered in their classrooms. The commission suggested the school district establish a safety and health committee to look into the incidents in response to the testimonies and the Bismarck Education Association’s proposal to add safe workplace language into teacher contracts. The commission also suggested the district consider working with the community by hosting parenting classes and anger management classes for children and adults. They also suggested gathering input from mental health professionals and law enforcement. The teachers union and the district would appoint members to the committee.

Childhood Lost
Children today are noticeably different from previous generations, and the proof is in the news coverage we see every day. This site shows you what’s happening in schools around the world. Children are increasingly disabled and chronically ill, and the education system has to accommodate them. Things we've long associated with autism, like sensory issues, repetitive behaviors, anxiety and lack of social skills, are now problems affecting mainstream students. Blame is predictably placed on bad parenting (otherwise known as trauma from home).
Addressing mental health needs is as important as academics for modern educators. This is an unrecognized disaster. The stories here are about children who can’t learn or behave like children have always been expected to. What childhood has become is a chilling portent for the future of mankind.
