Dec 17, 2025, KFDM, Beaumont, TX: Du Good by Giving: Shorkey Center expands services for children with autism
The Shorkey Center, an education and rehabilitation facility in Beaumont, Texas, is making strides in providing comprehensive care for children with autism and other developmental needs. Serving Jefferson, Orange, Chambers, Liberty, and Hardin counties, the center offers pediatric outpatient therapy, including speech, occupational, and physical therapy for children from birth to 21 years old.
The center's applied behavior analysis (ABA) department caters to children under seven with a primary diagnosis of autism. These children attend therapy sessions during a typical school day, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., receiving one-on-one attention from registered behavior technicians or board-certified behavior analysts.
The Shorkey Center also welcomes volunteers at its inclusive preschool, Instruction Junction, where they can engage with children through play or reading. This setup allows children to access necessary therapies while their parents are at work, eliminating the need for additional appointments. . . .
